The Power of Advertisements

Have you ever bought something or desperately want to own a particular item after watching several repetitions of the advertisement advertising your “I-want-that” product? I have got to admit that the power of persuasion of the advertising industry is very powerful because it is able to convince us to buy something, makes us believe that we will get the desirable results after purchasing their advertised items, and good at using us as a mere tool spreading their advertised products.

There was once during my period of puberty, I had pimples marking thier territories on my face. It was a time when I was very depressed and in need to find cures to improve my skin complexion. I remember the advertisement featured on "T3-fight pimples", a facial cleanser came just the right time. Their brand was promoting its features all over the place, such as through the radio, catalogues, television commercials and even magazines. After several exposures to these advertisements, I was convinced that I must purchase this facial cleanser to regain my smooth skin complexion. I could even remember my motivation to purchase this product was due to my favourite actress. The way she showed her flawless skin and her sweet voice promoting how reliable this product could actually fight off pimples was captured in my mind. Without hesitating, I rushed to the nearby Guardian outlet searching for that product.

It was not only how the actress portrayed the product being very successful in fighting off pimples, the salesgirl in the shop also successfully persuaded me with reliable messages ensuring me that I would no longer have a pimply-face after trying this facial cleanser. Of course, I bought the product without a second thought, a beautiful complexion was what I wanted at that moment.

After a few days using that facial cleanser, my face start to worsen into a bad condition. Instead of mere pimples, it began to form pust. Hideous and terrified. It was a fallancy to believe it would actually fight off pimples. I was not satisfied with the product. I swore I would never purchase that brand again even if it offer discounts.

I was very lucky that my skin was back to a better complexion after I had seek second opinion. After that horrible experience, whenever my friends asked for my opinion on which brand of facial cleanser to use, I would immediately convince them to not buy "T3-fight-pimples" because I do not want them to encounter the same experience as I did.
